Weekly Survey (September 15, 2020): Second Wave, Relaxing Measures and Fear of the Virus

This survey is conducted in collaboration with the Association for Canadian Studies (ACS) and published in the Canadian Press.
COVID-19
- Given the situation in their province/state, 34% of Canadians and 23% of Americans think we have entered the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
- 23% of Canadians and 41% of Americans believe that governments and health officials are exaggerating the threat posed by COVID-19 and the need for continued and rigorous public health safety measures.
- 63% of Canadians are afraid of contracting COVID-19, an increase of 7 percentage points since last week.
These are some of the findings of Leger’s latest survey, conducted from September 11-13, 2020, with 1,539 Canadians and 1,001 Americans, 18 years of age or older, randomly recruited from LEO’s online panel.
