7 Things To Do When You’re Social Distancing

COVID-19 has resulted in a new reality for Canadians: social distancing (although we recognize that it is unfortunately not possible for everyone, including those working in essential services).

We know that right now, you might be feeling scared, tired, anxious, frustrated, or just plain bored: so we’ve compiled a list of 7 activities that you can do at home while you are practicing social distancing. Don’t forget to wash your hands frequently and sanitize your environment!

1. Play Solitaire, Do a Crossword, or Play a Video Game

When social distancing, the threat of boredom is all too real. Activities you can do by yourself, like solitaire, crosswords, or video games can be a great way to pass the time.

 2. Spend Some Time in the Kitchen

Have you always wanted to cook that new and improved lasagna, but never been able to find the time? What better time than when you are staying at home? You could also fall back on an old family favourite that you haven’t made in a while, for the sake of comfort.

3. Movie or TV Show Marathon on Netflix/Disney +/Hulu/Prime Video/etc.

Some would argue that social distancing is the perfect time to catch up on your favourite show, or even start a new one entirely. Some online extensions enable you to watch Netflix with your friends remotely, while chatting at the same time, which can help if you’re feeling lonely! If you like, you can redeem the points you earn on LEO for a prepaid Visa gift card or PayPal transfer to help pay for these services.

 4. Get an Early Start on Your Spring Cleaning

Feeling down because you can’t be as productive as usual while social distancing? Channel your inner Marie Kondo and clean, sanitize, and reorganize the house.

5. Do a Home Workout With a Free Video

Missing the gym? You don’t need a fancy stationary bike to get in an effective workout at home. Lots of free videos are available online that feature bodyweight workouts or yoga, with no special equipment necessary!

 6. Catch Up With a Family Member or Friend Via Phone or Skype/Facebook/Google Duo

Social distancing doesn’t need to mean social isolation. Although it’s not quite the same, you can still connect with friends and family members in the same city or across the globe using your phone or an online service like Skype / Facebook Messenger / Google Duo, etc. They’re great tools to check in and see how people are doing!

 7. Take a Survey on LEO!

Surveys are a great way to pass the time. Whether you’re filling them out from the couch, the kitchen table, or hiding from your kids for a few minutes in the bathroom, don’t forget to check your To Do Today tab daily to see what surveys are available for you to complete.
