8 Ways Canadians and Americans Differ When it Comes to COVID-19

The COVID-19 situation is playing out differently in Canada and the United States.

As of Monday, June 1, 2020 (when this article was written), there were over 90,000 cases of coronavirus in Canada, including 34,773 active, 48,879 recovered, and 7,295 deaths.1  Various provinces are relaxing social distancing measures to varying extents, with the restrictions in some areas (for example, the Greater Montreal Area) remaining stricter than in others.

In contrast, as of the same date, the U.S. death toll is over 100,000 Americans,2 and all 50 states are relaxing restrictions.3

The deaths caused by COVID-19 are tragic, and our hearts are with the families affected.

Our Weekly COVID-19 Pandemic Tracker survey explores how COVID-19 is impacting Canadians and Americans.

We ask them about their behaviours, perceptions, and concerns related to the virus and the pandemic.

How do their views differ?

Our May 26, 2020 survey reveals 8 interesting differences between Canadians and Americans.
