COVID-19 Survey – May 26, 2020

Did you know that:

  • Canadians are equally split on whether governments are telling the whole truth about COVID-19 (50%) or deliberately withholding information (50%)
  • 51% of Canadians think wearing a mask when in public should be mandatory
  • 86% of Canadians are concerned about a second wave of COVID-19 in the fall
  • 34% of Canadians think their provincial government should slow down the pace at which it is relaxing social distancing/self-isolation measures, up 7% from last week.

These are some of the findings of Leger’s latest survey, conducted May 22-25, 2020 among 1,510 Canadians and 1,005 Americans, randomly recruited from LEO’s online panel.

Each week, Leger will publish a survey conducted in partnership with the Association for Canadian Studies (ACS) and published in The Canadian Press to help governments, businesses and citizens better understand the attitudes and behaviours of Canadians in the face of the current health and economic crisis. This series of surveys will be available on Leger’s website.
