North American Tracker (April 19, 2022): The State of the Pandemic

This survey is conducted in collaboration with the Association for Canadian Studies (ACS) and published in the Canadian Press. This series of surveys is available on Leger’s website.

The State of the Pandemic

  • 22% of Canadians report that they have or have had COVID-19 (whether they tested positive or not).
  • 57% of Canadians who report that they have or have had COVID-19 rate their symptoms as mild. 20% indicate they had severe symptoms and had to stay in bed.
  • 55% of Canadians think the worst of the COVID-19 crisis is behind us, an increase of 9 percentage points since February 7.
  • The proportion of Canadians who are personally afraid of contracting COVID-19 is trending downward again.

METHODOLOGY

This web survey was conducted from April 8 to 10, 2022 with 1,538 Canadians, 18 years of age or older, randomly recruited from LEO’s online panel.
