Climate Change and Net Zero Emissions by 2050

  • 74% of Canadians and 59% of Americans are worried about climate change.

  • 68% of Canadians and 53% of Americans support the goal of reaching Net Zero carbon emissions in their respective countries by 2050.
  • After being told that the goal of Net Zero emissions by 2050 will require Canada/the United States to significantly reduce its reliance on oil and natural gas development and exports, 64% of Canadians and 49% of Americans support the goal.
  • After being told that the goal of Net Zero emissions by 2050 will likely increase the cost of gasoline, diesel fuel and natural gas in Canada/the United States, 53% of Canadians and 40% of Americans support the goal.

68% of Canadians and 53% of Americans support the goal of reaching Net Zero carbon emissions in their respective countries by 2050.


METHODOLOGY

This web survey was conducted from April 23, 2021 to April 25, 2021 with 1,548 Canadians and 1,003 Americans, 18 years of age or older, randomly recruited from LEO’s online panel.
