{"id":5190,"date":"2021-09-28T06:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-09-28T10:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.legeropinion.com\/?p=5190"},"modified":"2021-09-27T18:25:41","modified_gmt":"2021-09-27T22:25:41","slug":"north-american-tracker-september-28-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.legeropinion.com\/en\/surveys\/north-american-tracker-september-28-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"The 2021 Federal Election: The Aftermath"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">DISCOVER OUR MOST RECENT RESULTS BELOW!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leger polled Canadians on their voting intentions and their outlook for this&nbsp;election.&nbsp;We have valued being able to provide Canadians with relevant data about this important moment for Canada. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">THE 2021 FEDERAL ELECTION: THE AFTERMATH<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>&#8220;With voter participation in last week\u2019s election the lowest in a decade, we looked at what motivated (and didn\u2019t motivate) voters to cast a ballot last Monday. It turns out that <strong>motivations vary depending on who Canadians voted for<\/strong>. Liberal and Conservative voters were primarily motivated to stop each other from forming government. NDP voters felt most in sync with that party\u2019s policies,&nbsp;and Bloc voters&nbsp;voted&nbsp;to defend Quebec\u2019s interests.&nbsp;<\/p><p>Among non-voters, almost one-quarter said they felt their vote would not make a difference. Whether the&nbsp;results&nbsp;will do much to change that sentiment any time soon&nbsp;remains to be seen.&#8221;&nbsp;&#8211; Andrew Enns, Executive Vice-President<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Among Canadians who did not vote in the 2021 federal election, they say the top reasons they did not do so are because they are <strong>indifferent\/never vote<\/strong> (29%) or because their vote <strong>does not change anything <\/strong>(24%).<\/li><li>Among Canadians who voted in the 2021 federal election*:<ul><li><span style=\"color: initial;\">45% considered voting for the Liberal Party<\/span><\/li><li>44% considered voting for the Conservative Party<\/li><li>42% considered voting for the NDP<\/li><li>14% considered voting for the Green Party<\/li><li>12% considered voting for the PPC<\/li><li>9% of <strong>Albertans\/Saskatchewanians<\/strong> considered voting for the Maverick Party<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-bloc-qu-b-cois-was-only-asked-to-qc-residents-maverick-party-was-only-asked-to-ab-sk-residents\">*Maverick Party was only asked to AB\/SK residents<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>27% of Canadians who stated which party they voted for in the 2021 federal election say they voted <strong>against another party\/strategically<\/strong>.<\/li><li>44% of Canadians who stated which party they voted for in the 2021 federal election voted for the <strong>party<\/strong>. 29% voted for the <strong>party leader<\/strong> and 27% voted for their <strong>local candidate<\/strong>.<\/li><li>83% of Canadians who voted in the 2021 federal election voted for their <strong>original choice<\/strong>, while 17% <strong>switched<\/strong> to their final choice over the course of the campaigns.<\/li><li>The main reason Canadians voted for each party are:<ul><li>Among Liberal voters, to <strong>avoid a Conservative government<\/strong> (25%)<\/li><li>Among Conservative voters, to <strong>get rid of the Liberal government<\/strong> (39%)<\/li><li>Among NDP voters, because the party best represents their <strong>values<\/strong> and <strong>beliefs<\/strong> (48%)<\/li><li>Among Bloc Qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois voters (Quebec only), because the party is there to <strong>defend Quebec\u2019s interests<\/strong> (35%)<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"block-d10bec84-091b-40ee-9af3-a4f8fb88eb3e\">This web survey was conducted from September 24, 2021 to September 26, 2021 with&nbsp;<strong>1,537 Canadians<\/strong>
