Major Sporting Events in June
June is shaping up to be a big month for sports fans.
With major finals underway and the countdown to a global tournament picking up, there will be plenty of memorable moments to watch in the weeks ahead.

Sports fans are in for a treat this month
In June, all eyes are on some of the world’s biggest sporting events.
The NBA (Knicks v. Spurs) and NHL (Golden Knights v. Hurricanes) finals are set to deliver plenty of excitement as the top teams compete for their respective championships.
At the same time, anticipation is growing for the FIFA World Cup 2026, which will take place across North America in Canada, the United States and Mexico. According to data collected through LEO, 69% of Canadians are now aware that Canada, the United States, and Mexico will host the tournament, up 12 points from November 2025.
As the tournament gets closer, interest appears to be steadily growing.
Excitement Is Building, but Canadians Are Staying Measured
While interest continues to grow, Canadians remain more reserved than audiences in some other countries when it comes to closely following the competition.
According to our data, 74% of Canadians support Canada hosting World Cup matches. However, only 27% say they plan to follow the tournament closely or somewhat closely.
This suggests that many Canadians see the event less as something they’ll follow game by game, and more as a major international celebration — and a unique opportunity for Canada to shine on the world stage.
National pride is already starting to build ahead of the tournament, with two-thirds of Canadians (66%) saying they’ll mainly be cheering for Team Canada during the competition.

I listened the game on TSN radio in Toronto yesterday. Surprised to learn that Canada received a FIFA World Cup point, for the first time yesterday, due to a goal by Cyle.
